Note: The following is the Mandatory Gear List for the race. We have tried to keep it as minimal as possible, limiting it to only those gear required to finish the race safely and adhering to the "Leave No Trace" ethos of adventure racing. Please take the Recommended Gear List seriously. Though not required, failure to bring many of these items with you has a good chance of resulting in a race-ending scenario.

Team Gear:
Entire Course:
- Emergency Cell Phone - in waterproof container, fully charged
- 2 Glow Sticks - Cyalume-type for canoe bow & stern when traveling at night, 12-hour with minimum length 4"
- One of the following:
- Adventure Medical Kit Ultralight .7

- or Equivalent of Adventure Medical Kit Ultralight .7 - Name-brand items below may be replaced by their equivalent generic brand products:
- (8) 2x2 or 3x3 sterile dressing
- (2) 3x4 non adherent sterile dressing
- (1) conforming gauze bandage
- (4) 1x3 adhesive bandage
- (3) knuckle adhesive bandage
- (1) tape ½"x 10 yards
- (1) swift wrap elastic bandage
- (8) 200mg. Ibuprofen
- (2) antihistamine (Diphenhydramine)
- (2) afterbite sting relief
- (1) moleskin
- (5) towelettes
- (3) antibiotic ointment
- (1) tincture of benzoin
- (3) butterfly closure bandage
- (2) pair nitrile gloves
- (1) tweezer
- (3) safety pins
- (1) duct tape
- (2) Aloksak bags (or one big enough to keep all moisture sensitive items dry)
- Water purification system - iodine tablets, filter, etc.
- Trowel - or means to dig a hole in hard dirt, not included in other gear
- Compass

- Something to Write With - preferably permanent marker
- Something to Write On - and means to waterproof
- UTM Plotter/Grid/Ruler - 1:24000 scale
- One of the following:
- Aerial Flare
- Emergency Beacon/Strobe Light - must be visable for 3 mile radius
Paddling Section[s]:
- Canoe - not provided. rentals available, contact race staff. non-delicate (plastic/royalex) recommended.
Individual Gear:
Entire Course:
- Means to carry at least 2 liters (66 ounces) of fluid
- Food for entire race - 18-30 hours
- Headlamp - with spare batteries or additional headlamp
- Emergency Space Blanket
- Whistle
- Knife - minimum 1.5" with locking blade
Biking Section[s]:
- Mountain Bike - cyclocross allowed but not recommended
- Helmet - CPSC-certified bicycle helmet
- White light - mounted on front of bike or helmet when traveling at night
- Red light - mounted on rear of bike when traveling at night
Paddling Section[s]:
- Paddle - both single and double allowed. if renting a canoe, this is provided.
- PFD (Type III) - Personal Floatation Device/life jacke. if renting a canoe, this is provided.
- Helmet - if on moving water; bike helmet is okay
- Glow Stick - Cyalume-type on your PFD (1 per person, in addition to 2 for canoe), 12-hour with minimum length 4"
