Administrivia:

Many of you ordered extra maps.  Note that these are the custom maps we are making of the area with color-coded GPS tracks and otherwise overlaid.  This does not include any supplemental map[s] we may provide teams for the race course.  They won't be used during the race, but will be picked up afterward.  Below are the teams and the number of mapsets requested.  If you are in this list, you must confirm you still want these by emailing me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) within the next week.  Recall the cost is $25 to be paid at check-in:

Team Name Extra Maps
Layer 3 2
Toledo Bender 2
Crusaders 1
EntHost 1
M2 1
Florida Xtreme 1 1
Florida Xtreme 2 1
Section 8 1
Bikes Plus Wright Brothers 1
Crossfit Garage 1
Felix Navidad 1
team jackass 1

Bike Shuttling:

I've been asked to point out that as we shuttle bikes, we will be shuttling them bare--meaning your bike shoes, gloves, and helmet will not go with your bike.  They will stay with you.  Exceptions would be stuff that would fit in bike pouch under seat (like bike tool, or whatever inside).

Additionally, we are not responsible for the loss of any bottles, lights, bike computers, etc. that are attached to the bikes, so take care to properly secure anything on it or take it off and with you before the shuttle.

Just a note to set expectations before the check-in.

Looking For Teammates:

Now for a personal ad:

I have been racing for about 3.5 years. During that time I have competed in a couple dozen races and an equal number of mock events and orienteering meets. I have been in six 24 hour races once as a soloist.  Of those my best finish was second place at last year’s Atomic.  I have been on the podium 2 other times during this period in sprint distance races. I consider myself good on foot.  I have only dropped out of 2 events.  I can navigate if needed or at the very least I like to be a part of the navigation.  If you have lost one of your teammates and or are a 2 person team that would like to go to three don’t hesitate to give me a call to discuss goals to see if we are a good fit.

Goldrush
Checkpoint Zero
Atomic
Midnight Rush
Sandman
Currahee
West Point
The Siege on Fort Yargo
Challenge Four
Augusta Savannah River

Thanks,

John Franco
