Cannot really elaborate without revealing some overall design.  You already know about the mental toughness of the race.  Train your willpower.  Beyond that and enter the physical.  My advice is train on foot right now, and move to bike and paddle closer to the race.  And know your navigation techniques.  Strong quads will be useful.  You guys know this from last year.
